What, a Sports Night story that features my personal kryptonite DAN IN SWEATERS? Yes. Yes, indeed. Also grammar fun and cuteness and Casey being a sweetheart/dork.

Oh, and hey, I got a lovely treat for picking up a pinch hit - and they made miracles happen for our Scorcher from Tana French's Broken Harbour. You may recall that I asked my Yule Santa for ALL THE HUGS for Scorcher, and look, look, he gets them!

I haven't had much time to dive into the archive yet, but I know there will be SO MUCH to swim around in, oh, Yuletide, you are the champion of everything.

FYI, every Queen's Thief Story I've read so far (and I've barely read a fraction from just this year, because I haven't had any time) has been fucking SUPERB.

The quest for the perfect sweater!!! My Yuletide wishes for you came truuuuuuuuue.

Dan in Sweaters is a lovely dream to have come true.

Meanwhile, we've been watching The Good Wife, which is essentially: Dan quits Sports Night and becomes a TOTALLY CUT THROAT LAWYER except not at all because of Josh Charles's SAD EYES so you know he hates himself whenever he can for doing bad things on the gray scale so he spends time trying to balance them out by doing SO MANY GOOD THINGS like being loyal and true to the ones he loves and fighting hopeless cases pro bono even though he pretends to hate pro bono work.

Oh Dan Rydell/Will Gardner/SAD EYES JOSH CHARLES, you are the best. (Actually Dan is better than Will, from a moral standpoint, but they both are pretty great.)

Oh, Will. Sometimes he throws a baseball in the air with SAD EYES. And, once, he wears a sweatshirt and jeans and is kind of scruffy. It almost killed me, that time with the sweatshirt and jeans.

But also, is Julianna Margulies not amazing on that show? And, oh my god, Archie Panjabi. Kalindaaaaaaaaa.

Oh my god, KALINDA is perfect in every way, and we're like, somewhere in season three I think, and I'm like KALINDA PLEASE STOP SLEEPING WITH PEOPLE YOU DON'T EVEN LIKE AND ARE CLEARLY NOT EVEN ATTRACTED TO - it is obvious every person SHOULD want to sleep with Kalinda, that is only correct, but that does not mean she needs to ever entertain them, esp. when she clearly loves ONLY Alicia, although she also does seem inexplicably genuinely fond of both Will and CARY WHO SOMEHOW GREW INTO HIMSELF AND HAS INTEGRITY AND I LIKE HIM NOW HOW???? Also, I like JM a great deal, but -um. She was so boring until she started sleeping with Will and standing up for herself against evil Jackie and also she is ALWAYS limping in those punishing heels, and it makes me so sad to think her feet hurt literally ALL THE TIME. Dude, there MUST be Kalinda/Alicia, right? Although Matt and I were talking about how Diane and Will must have been like Alicia and Cary back in the day, Diane more awesome of course, but Will just as douchey and scheming, and someone must have written the story of houw they hit their awesome true brother sister partner vibe. I should check the Yuletide archive post-haste!

Cary grows on you, somehow. He will always have the face of an industrial strength douchebag, but he does grow up! And sometimes when he smiles, his face is less punchable! Because he is genuinely happy! And he does have wild chemistry with Kalinda. Though, as previously stated EVERYONE has wild chemistry with Kalinda except for a number of the people she's sleeping with. Kalinda makes some bad choices re: that.

AO3 has a lot of Kalinda/Alicia. It might be the dominant pairing for the fandom. I was just ruing the state of their canon relationship, earlier. I miss the way they were.

Lemme know if you find any good Diane&Will stories. I too dig their supportive partner brother sister vibe.
